I collaborated with committees to streamline login navigation for incoming students at Brookdale Community College, ensuring a smoother onboarding experience. I actively engaged in meetings, advocated for student concerns, and developed solutions to improve account access, website navigation, and self-service tools
Many high school graduates taking the placement test struggle with logging into their accounts, often unable to recall their login credentials or access essential information needed for registration and navigation.
The student page does not help students find their Brookdale College Account Email. Only forgot your password and activate your account.
Students used to write down information on sticky notes and often came into test with the wrong information in their accounts.
The key problems that students were having were caused by the following reasons.
Promoted moving of navigation of student email accounts to front login page. (Previously only password reset appeared on this page.)
Researched and promoted a design to post to promote and market to new students to be able to discover what the default password is. Brookdale does not by default tell you what the default password for your account is.
Original Rough Design promoting students to be able to find login information.
Students used to randomly write their account information on sticky notes. They often didn't realize they had a Brookdale email address. They often forget or don't realize that they have to use the Brookdale email ending even when they have their account email address. Many students do not know their ID number.
Students are now handed a sheet that shows them exactly what they need to log into their accounts. It provides them with the @ part of the email address that they often forget or don't realize they need. This @ also helps them from using their gmail since it uses a different email @ symbol.
In person resource and marketing promotion for New Students helping them make decisions about which college and job to choose. Helped run events and host and communicate marketing the Brookdale experience to new students. At Job Fairs and New Student Day. Was responsible along with other members in bringing up to 2000 new students to the college each year.
